Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Summer Mussar class

Summer Mussar (ethics based on Jewish texts) will be taking place for the 11th consecutive year at Or Hadash (on Zoom once more). These biweekly sessions are intended to be both maintenance for ongoing Mussar students as well as an introduction to Mussar for new students. This summer we will be studying “To Heal a Fractured World” by the late Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. The book describes how to lead a more meaningful life through our accepting our responsibilities to others, to society, and to humanity. For those who wish to read ahead, we will start with Chapter 1 and cover one chapter each class. The book is available from amazon.com for about $10 (Kindle) or $14 (paperback).

The sessions will take place on Zoom from 7:30-9:30 P.M. every other Tuesday, starting July 20. The dates are 7/20, 8/3, 8/17, and 8/31. Please let Marty know if you plan to attend, and he will provide a Zoom link. Otherwise, there is no need for advance registration. No prior Mussar knowledge is needed, and attendance is not necessary at all sessions to benefit from the program, since each session will be stand-alone. Marty will lead the first meeting and then depend on volunteers to lead the remaining three. There is no fee for the program.

Please contact Marty Jacobs (martin.jacobs@verizon.net), for the Zoom link and if you have any questions.
