Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Antiracism Task Force Education Equity Panel

Or Hadash now has an Antiracism Task Force.

Antiracism means working actively to undo policies that have unequitable impact based on race.

We are hosting our first congregational event on November 14th at 11:30 am.

Soon after the murder of George Floyd a group of congregants began to gather to learn more about racism and what we could do to be more antiracist.  We have met continuously since then and became a task force recognized by the Or Hadash Board in June of 2021.  The Antiracism Task Force’s first mission is to promote education and activism related to anti-black racism within Or Hadash and to seek opportunities to align and collaborate with other like-minded congregations and organizations with a commitment to undoing systemic racism. We have identified education funding as our first focus area for action. Good educational outcomes are important for our entire society and an important step in undoing racist policies, laws, and funding decisions.  Our goal is to work with other organizations who are fighting for fair, antiracist funding, and we invite the congregation to join us in these efforts.  However, we feel it is important to educate ourselves about the causes and impact of unfair funding first, and we invite the community to join us to learn more before we begin to call on you to join our advocacy and organizing efforts.  To that end, we are offering a panel discussion led by experts in the field on fair funding and encourage anyone interested in social and racial justice to attend.  This will be a great way to learn about the issue and how to engage in activism.  For more information, please see the attached flier below or contact Alisa Belzer, alisabelzer@gmail.com
