Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Services and Torah Study

Torah Study

Torah study takes place every Saturday morning at 9 (bagel breakfast precedes it at 8:45 am) and brings together a diverse cross-section of the synagogue, from teens to religious school parents to empty-nesters. No preparation or Hebrew knowledge is required – just come with curiosity and an open mind to explore the richness of our sacred texts and see how we can continue to discover ourselves within them year after year.

Our services emphasize congregant participation. Lack of knowledge of Hebrew or formal training should not be a barrier to participation. All services include English readings, transliterations and translations of all Hebrew prayers. Special transliterated siddurim are available.

The incorporation of music into our services is engaging to both the novice or seasoned service attendee. There are also opportunities to speak during the discussions and study sessions, which are a part of almost all services. We also invite you to worship with us as we observe all Jewish holidays.

Erev Shabbat (Friday Evening) Services

Erev Shabbat services are held every Friday evening at 7:30 PM, except the Shabbat in Three-Part Harmony Services held the first Friday of most months, which start at 6 PM for Tot Shabbat or 7 PM for a Family Service.

Services are friendly and informal, with a lively mix of Hebrew and English, and an emphasis on music and singing in a fully egalitarian setting.

Friday services often include speakers and programs such as our Shabbat Zemirah (Musical Shabbat) and Shabbat Schmooze (short service followed by catered dinner).

Our schedule may vary over the summer.  Please check our calendar page for the summer dates and times.  Thank you.

Shabbat in Three-Part Harmony (Family Shabbat)

Shabbat in Three-Part Harmony is a unique, monthly intergenerational Shabbat program held on the first Friday of most months. It begins with Tot Shabbat at 6:00 pm, followed by a congregational potluck dairy/vegetarian dinner at 6:30 pm.  The night concludes with Family Service at 7:00 pm. This festive evening often features the musical accompaniment of our resident guitarist, Dave Levinson.
