Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

OH Hike

Join us for a hike along wooded trails in the Wissahickon Park.  It will be about two hours, covering three to four miles over rocky, rough trails, with some climbs and descents.  Hiking shoes and poles are recommended.  Well behaved dogs, on leashes, are welcome.  This is not recommended for children under 10 years old.  There will be drop-out points along the way if you do not want to complete the entire hike.  Be aware that bathroom facilities are extremely limited, or may not be available at all.  The starting point for the hike at 2:00 PM is at West Hartwell Lane and Cherokee Street entrance.

There is a parking lot on Cherokee for Springside Chestnut Hill Academy that we can use just southeast of the trailhead.  Hartwell dead ends at Cherokee so if coming in from the northeast it is easy to find.  Alternative is Willow Grove Avenue to Cherokee (passing SCH fields, etc.) to Cherokee, then right on Cherokee. There are a couple route options we can use based on weather, group interest etc. If you have any questions about the hike, or about Wssahickon Park in general, contact Ted Apple at apple2100@gmail.com.  A great resource about the Park, and a listing of other activities and hikes there, for all age groups, is found at fow.org.  RSVP to Debbie Levin at dlevin39@comcast.net or 610-955-3300. She will let you know if there are any changes based on weather, etc.
