Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Erev Shabbat Service with Choir with members of Congregation Temple Bethel and their Choir

The Adult Education Committee is pleased that members of Congregation Temple Beth'El, including its rabbi, Debra Bowen, will be joining us for services on Friday, October 16th, at 8:00. Congregation Temple Beth'El, located in Philadelphia, is one of many synagogues around the country that serve the African American Jewish community, and we're delighted that our communities will be joining together. Judaism, like Islam, Christianity and most other faiths, is diverse, yet there is sometimes a lack of awareness of this diversity despite large numbers of Jews from Africa, India, China and other regions. Rabbi Bowen will speak during services to familiarize the OH community with the traditions followed by her congregation, and many members of the Temple Beth'El community will be in attendance (including their chorus), so opportunities for personal interaction and learning will abound. Please join us for what we hope will be the first of many joint services and events between our two communities.
