Help us fight food insecurity - bring your granola bars & juice boxes to the Congregational Meeting this Friday

Food Insecurity has been a focus for Social Action Tikkun Olam (SATO) at Or Hadash for a long time. Many of our programs help older adults through Aid For Friends, for example.  There are large numbers of children in Montgomery County and elsewhere who receive free or reduced cost meals during the school year but do not receive this service during the summer.  We just became aware of a program in Ambler, started last summer, called Wissahickon Snack Attack, which is run entirely by volunteers with donated prepackaged items. Three days a week, children receive a bag containing an assortment of seven different items such as granola bars, Pop tarts, cookies, peanut butter crackers, Pirates Booty, cheese sticks, trail mix, juice bag/ box, fresh fruit, gogurt, etc. The program gave out 800 snack bags last summer and is expanding to two locations this summer to reach more children.

We would like to support this excellent program by asking everyone to bring granola bars and/or juice bag/boxes to the Congregational Meeting on Friday, May 17th.

Any questions, please contact Vivien Kane at 610-509-0042 or Shelley Sanders at 610-733-8506.

Thank you in advance for supporting this important program!   SATO Committee
